Peter Omoni is honored to serve as the interim secretary for the Association of Kenyan American Nurse Anesthetists (AKANA).
Driven by his nursing alma mater’s motto “Learn, Lead, Serve” Peter’s journey to becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) began with service as a Combat Medic in the US Army. He utilized the GI Bill to earn a B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington, a B.S. in Nursing from Baylor University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Peter has practiced as a CRNA across the South and Midwest, specializing in cardiac, trauma, and general surgery settings. Through AKANA, he is dedicated to learning from members, mentoring the next generation of nurse anesthetists, and leveraging his expertise to serve underserved communities, particularly in Kenya.
When not working, Peter, a husband and father of three young adults, enjoys cycling, hiking, traveling, and cooking for his family.
